The challenges of being a yoga teacher
Are you disillusioned about being a yoga teacher? Yoga isn’t an institution or a culture of looking or being a certain way. Yoga isn’t an industry. It’s about you, Universal Truth and the Great Mystery…I hear a lot of people being disillusioned about yoga. They feel like they can’t be part of that system anymore. And want to “give up”. Many yoga teachers but also regular people.
Three people who inspire me right now
They are completely different and yet very similar.
An artist, designer, writer, teacher, and Tarot Reader. A non-dual lineage holder of Vedic tradition of India and ayurvedic teacher. And a record executive, record producer and general inspirational person.
What’s my dosha? My true Nature
I am reflecting on what my true nature is. In ayurveda we talk about doshas and our prakriti. Prakriti is our unique constitution. It’s our balance. Our prakriti is created by the 5 great elements or the panchamahabhutas; space, air, fire, water and earth which we also know from yoga.

I am not in a rush!
It feels like there is an epidemic of rushing. Of rushing to get as much done as possible. Rushing to do it as quickly as possible so we can rush to do even more.
For a long while “I am not in a rush!” has been my mantra. I am in the recovery of the addiction of being busy being busy (yes, you read that right).

Grieving process
We often think of grieving when a loved one pass on. Death.
But we also grieve friendships that have changed. A work situation that is no more. How things used to be. We grieve when we move from a place we loved or let go of treasured possessions. Changes in our health or our body.
Winter solstice Reflections
The winter solstice is always a time of reflection as it’s the darkest time of the year. But this year it is also towards the end of the lunar cycle with the new moon in a couple of days. So the sky is dark indeed.
Groundhog day and feeling low
God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.
Pratyahara: sense withdrawal when in information overload
It’s easy to get overwhelmed by information overload. We are on our phones constantly getting news updates, social media posts and messages. We watch the news, listen to the news on the radio.
Wanting to run away from it all? Me too
Finding solace in my practice. Applying it to my daily life. And it’s a practice and a choice – every single moment. Often I choose chocolate, Instagram and Netflix too. Sometimes my anxiety and insomnia take over.
Feeling frazzled and anxious?
With everyone feeling frazzled with some level of anxiety and stress I thought I wanted to share a bit of essential oil love with you.
This experience called life
He asked: Are you enjoying this experience called life? I stopped and wondered for a moment before answering.
Finding Gratitude in challenging times
Gratitude for the beach today. For the blue sky, the stunning sunset, the murmuration of the bird (which is a challenge to capture on the phone, but I tried), for fresh air and the horizon.
Covid-19 Christmas Cancellations
What a year it’s been… As we retreated into the Christmas holidays, the festive season, it really did feel like a retreat. No travelling and no meeting family or friends. Very different indeed.
